Western Technology Center strives toward one main goal: To develop an innovative and highly skilled workforce in Western Oklahoma by providing workplace skills. Western Technology Centers have several branches across Western Oklahoma that provide workforce training for adults and students as well as customized training programs, expert assistance and training facilities for business and industry services. Over 90 people are employed by WTC, who train hundreds of students annually.
The Weatherford branch of Western Technology Center opened in 1992. Since then, WTC has developed an array of course options.
Western Technology Center has courses available in Human Resources, Business Training, Foreign Language, and Self Defense Training including a class to obtain an Oklahoma Handgun License. They provide a variety of computer training including instruction for Microsoft Excel and QuickBooks, Medical training including CPR/First aid/AED classes, and a Certified Nurses Aide course. Along with all of these, there are many online courses to choose from. WTC also offers two full-time programs-Dental Assisting and Dental Hygiene.

Dental Assisting is a 9 month, full-time major that is available to any high school graduate or to any person who has obtained his or her GED. Once the course is completed, student’s will take the Dental Assisting National Board Exam for Certified Dental Assistant license to complete training. The Dental Hygiene program may be accessed after students have completed two years of prerequisites at a university. Once admitted to the Dental Hygiene program, students will spend two years training in the dental hygiene curriculum. Following this training, student’s will receive a Bachelor of Science in Dental Hygiene and will then be eligible to take the exams required to become licensed a Registered Dental Hygienist.
